A new Tesla  “gigafactory” based in Nevada eventually will employ 6,000 people. Tesla currently has about that number of employees, which seems very modest for a car manufacturer that has aspirations to sell over half a million cars in 2020. The secret is that Tesla builds cars with parts that mostly come from outside suppliers.
