Stefan Lamm - Ford of Europe designer Stefan Lamm joins VW's Seat brand

Volkswagen’s Seat brand has recruited Ford of Europe designer Stefan Lamm as its new head of exterior design.

Lamm, 45, will start his new role Feb. 1., succeeding Jorge Diez, who has moved to Audi as head of concept design, Seat said in a statement.

Lamm, a German national, worked at Ford of Europe for 10 years, most recently as the company’s head of exterior design. He was responsible for the design of cars such as the current Ford Fiesta subcompact, current Ka minicar and the new-generation S-Max large minivan. He also worked on the Kuga compact SUV.

Seat has been experiencing a revival recently, earning praise in the media for new models such as the Leon compact, which last year overtook the Ibiza subcompact to become the brand’s best-seller.

Seat will launch a new compact SUV/crossover next year as part of its plans to boost its product offerings and return to profit, CEO Juergen Stackmann has said.
