Audi is building a geothermal plant in Pér, close to the Audi Hungaria factory in Gyor. After going into operation in just over a year, it will supply the company with at least 82,000 megawatt hours of geothermal energy per year and will cover about 60% of total heat requirements.
Audi has unveiled the A7 Sportback h-tron quattro concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show that virtually looks identical to the standard model, but what’s under the skin is quite unique.
Audi is active in the development of CO2-neutral, synthetic fuels; the company already has projects underway with Joule in the US for the development and testing of synthetic ethanol and synthetic diesel; has an e-gas project underway in Werlte, Germany; and has a new partnership with Global Bioenergies on bio-isooctane (bio-gasoline).Audi’s latest e-fuels project is participation in a a pilot plant project in Dresden that produces diesel fuel from water, CO2 and green electricity.
Daimler has opened a research and development center in Beijing tasked with further tuning its Mercedes-Benz brand to wealthy Chinese tastes and closing the sales gap with Audi and BMW brand.
Mercedes’s China sales rose 30.5 percent to 203,485 in the first nine months, trailing BMW, which sold 335,863, a rise of 18 percent. Sales of luxury market leader Audi rose 16 percent to 415,704 in the same period.
Audi will recall 850,000 A4 models worldwide due to airbag problems, with about half of the vehicles affected in the luxury carmaker’s two biggest markets of China and Germany.
