Toyota, Plaintiffs Clash Over Future Of Acceleration MDL

The people at Law 360 are keeping up with all the twists and turns to Toyota’s problems with customer litigation. Here is the latest news from them.

Law360, New York (March 22, 2013, 5:43 PM ET) — Toyota Motor Corp. and plaintiffs allegedly injured by an acceleration defect proposed plans for moving forward with multidistrict litigation on Thursday following the settlement of most of the claims against the company, with the parties at loggerheads over bellwether selection and discovery.

Toyota resolved the economic loss claims related to the alleged defect in December, in a settlement worth more than $1 billion. Weeks later, the automaker reached a confidential deal with plaintiffs in the first-scheduled trial over wrongful death and personal injury claims.
