The top finalists for the World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year awards were announced on Wednesday at a press conference at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Volkswagen Golf has emerged as the clear winner of Car of The Year 2013 award, with 414 points, ahead of Toyota GT-86/Subaru BRZ on 202 points, and the Volvo V40, with 189 points. It’s the first time the Golf has taken the coveted European CoTY award since the Mk3 in 1992.
The all-new Volkswagen Golf has been unveiled in Berlin, 36 years after the original model redefined the small family car. The seventh generation Golf builds on the success of its predecessors, of which over 29 million have been sold, bringing new levels of comfort, practicality, safety and efficiency to the class.
