Toyota on Wednesday said it was on track for record $17.5 billion full-year net profit, as Japan’s major automakers wrapped up a bumper earnings season, but a slowdown in Asia, including China, could slam the brakes on growth.
Toyota will be testing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Aichi Prefecture, Japan from 1 November until 15 March 2015. The tests will involve standard chargers for use with vehicles such as plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) and electric vehicles (EVs).
The tests will be conducted jointly with four municipalities (Kariya City, Toyota City, Toyohashi City, and Nagakute City) and two companies (Toyota Industries Corporation and UNY Co., Ltd.), all of which are located in Aichi Prefecture. Toyota conducted similar tests in FY2012 and FY20131.
Toyota continues its winning streak atop Consumer Reports’ annual reliability rankings. The company’s Toyota and Lexus brands top the survey, while its Scion brand is in the top ten. It’s the eighth year in a row that a Toyota brand has led the rankings.

Toyota kept its lead over rivals Volkswagen and General Motors as the world’s top-selling automaker in the first nine months of the year, Monday reporting record sales of 7.615 million vehicles, up nearly 3 percent from the previous year.
Toyota has cut the entry price of the GT86 to just £22,995 thanks to the introduction of a new Primo model. That’s more than £2000 less than the current cheapest version. Buyers who order one early can also get a further £500 off.
