Western European car sales rose 4 percent in June, according to industry data collated by LMC Automotive, as a market rebound in southern Europe offset weaker demand in Germany.

BMW holds U.S. luxury sales lead over Mercedes in June
BMW won the June U.S. luxury sales race and widened its lead over the Mercedes-Benz brand and Lexus during the first six months.
Last month, BMW sold 30,201 vehicles, a 12 percent increase, helped by the 5-series sedan, which surged 77 percent to 7,940 deliveries. Mercedes sales rose 9 percent to 26,506, helped by a 25 percent gain to 6,500 for the E-class sedan.
France and Spain extend car sales recovery in June
French and Spanish new-car sales rose in June, helped by extra incentives and new models as Europe’s vehicle sector recovery picks up steadily.
French registrations were up 3 percent last month, bringing first half gains to 3 percent, the Paris-based CCFA carmakers’ association said.
