Jaguar Land Rover has announced the creation of 800 at its Solihull factory. The company’s growth in production numbers is a reflection of booming global sales, and the new jobs are to support future growth plans.

Jaguar Land Rover creates 300 jobs with £1bn investment


Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced that it will spend an extra £1bn with UK suppliers over the next four years, a direct result of the popularity of the new Range Rover Evoque. The investment is on top of the £2bn worth of supply contracts it has already awarded to over 40 UK parts suppliers, which it announced a year ago.

Tata compressed air car getting closer

Tata Motors, the company responsible for the world’s cheapest car (and the owner of Jaguar Land Rover, as an aside), is developing a car that runs on compressed air. Imagine that. Tata owns the licence to develop a compressed air engine created by Motor Development International (MDI), a company formed in 1991 in Luxembourg.

The MDI engine has been in development for years, and had originally been scheduled for public release in a Tata air car in 2010 – Tata bought the licence for the engine five years ago.
