BMW Looks back at 2012

BMW looks back at 2012 and has released a summary of what they achieved. Keeping themselves on top of the luxury market crowds provides a pretty extensive list of achievements. It required three videos to showcase what they accomplished in 2012.

Vote for the Classic Car of the Year 2012

The public is being invited to vote for the best classic car of the year from a shortlist prepared by an expert panel. Entrants so far demonstrate just how eclectic the competition entries are. They include a 1933 Standard Swallow two-door coupe, a 1987 Ford RS500 Sierra Cosworth, a 1955 Daimler Conquest Century Saloon passed through the generations of one family, and even a 1982 Morris Ital, allegedly “restored to its former glory.” Any car built before 1990 is eligible.

The winner will receive a first prize valued at over £3,500 with over £700 worth of runners up prizes up for grabs – not to mention some pretty substantial bragging rights. The format of the competition is that owners need to enter by 3 August via the competition website www.ccoty.co.uk.

Ford 1.0 Ecoboost Engine of the Year

The Engine of the Year award for 2012 has been given to the tiny three-cylinder Ford Ecoboost 1.0. We are not always big fans of awards – for example one very determined journalist ensured that the Vauxhall Insignia beat the Ford Fiesta to 2009 European Car of the Year, when it wasn’t even the best car in its class, let alone best car of the year. However, we would have to applaud this one.
