Mark Hall, Hyundai Europe marketing boss quits

Hyundai, one of the few carmakers not benefiting from a rebound in European car sales, said today its marketing boss, Mark Hall, has left the company for personal reasons.
“Mark Hall has decided to step down from his role as vice president marketing at Hyundai Motor Europe. The company has agreed to allow him to leave with immediate effect,” the automaker said in a statement.
Europe Chief Operating Officer Allan Rushforth will take over Hall’s responsibilities on an interim basis.
Hall stated that he left Hyundai to spend more time with his family and is considering his next move.
In the first four months, Hyundai’s European sales have dropped 2 percent to 144,556 in an overall market that is up 7 percent during that period, according to data from industry association ACEA. Through April, Hyundai’s European market share has slipped to 3.2 percent from 3.5 percent on the year before.
Hall, a former Toyota executive, has 25 years of automotive experience. Before joining Hyundai Europe in 2010 as marketing director, the 53-year-old English executive was head of product planning and marketing for Lexus Europe, having previously held various positions in sales and marketing with Toyota at a European level and in the UK.
In June 2013, Hall was promoted to his current position as head of marketing, based at Hyundai’s European headquarters near Frankfurt, Germany.
