The widow of the man who was driving a Porsche sports car that crashed and killed actor Paul Walker sued the automaker on Monday, claiming design flaws caused both men to die in a fiery crash in November.

CAM/PwC name Volkswagen Group most innovative global automotive company

The Germany-based Center of Automotive Management (CAM), in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) AG WPG, named the Volkswagen Group the world’s most innovative automotive company in its 2014 AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Awards; this marks the fourth consecutive time Volkswagen Group has picked up the top award. The Volkswagen Group also received awards in the “Conventional drives”, “Alternative drives” and “Networked vehicle” categories. Daimler followed in second place, then BMW Group, GM and Toyota.

University of Bath to receive £1.2 million for ACTIVE propulsion research

The University of Bath’s (UK) Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre (PVRC) will receive £1.2 million (US$2.0 million) to fund its automotive research as part of the ACTIVE – Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Inline Variable valvetrain Engine project partly funded by the UK’s Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC).
