Ford’s drive to make its sport utility vehicles (SUV) and other models lighter to save fuel and boost performance will not be delayed by a recent drop in oil prices, Executive Chairman Bill Ford said on Wednesday.

Lexus unveils LF-C2 Roadster Concept
Lexus has revealed a 2+2 Roadster model called the LF-C2 at the LA Auto Show. Lexus is calling the car a concept, but it shares a lot of design cues with the current IS and upcoming RC models, so it is a likely candidate for production. Expect it in the UK from 2016.
Shanghai OnStar introduces new telematics services
Shanghai OnStar is showing its upcoming 4G LTE service, introducing several new telematics services and announcing the opening of its third call center to support the rising demand for its services. Its new call center in Chongqing, which opened earlier this month, joined its call centers in Shanghai and Xiamen.
GM approves Opel SUV and engine investments in Germany, Poland
Opel will add a flagship SUV to its lineup, the company said in a statement. The General Motors division will invest €245 million in its home plant in Ruesselsheim, Germany, to build the SUV, Opel said in a statement Thursday.
