Toyota forecasts profit drop from Japan slump, yen

Toyota forecast profit will fall from last year’s record as demand slumps in Japan, competition intensifies in the United States and the yen is no longer the boon it used to be.

Net income will probably slip to 1.78 trillion yen ($17 billion) in the fiscal year ending March 31, Toyota said in a statement today.

General Motors needs to repair millions of cars it has recalled since Feb. 7. With ignition switches, power steering motors and other parts slowly arriving at dealers, frustrated drivers face waits of weeks or months, some while driving cars they fear are unsafe.

Delphi introduces new diesel common rail system family at Vienna Motor Symposium

Delphi Automotive PLC introduced a new family of diesel common rail systems including diesel solenoid injectors, fuel pumps, engine control units (ECU) and rails for light- and medium-duty applications at the International Vienna Motor Symposium.

The new family of technologies will be available later this year on a new engine of a major European car manufacturer.The new injector family comprises three new solenoid injectors offering a rising level of performance available for targeted vehicle segments and regions.
