Toyota said it will recall around 185,000 vehicles globally, including the Yaris subcompact, owing to a glitch in the electric power steering system that could make the steering heavier.
Connecticut, U.S. gas stations must remove bellows, disks from pump handles
In the next two years, virtually every gas station in Connecticut will have to change the nozzles on its pumps to disconnect the vapor-recovery systems required by the Clean Air Act of 1991.
Those Stage II vapor recovery systems — a bellows or a disk near the handle — are no longer needed because of advances in car gas valves. In fact, the older nozzles actually work against the new technology, causing leakage of the same volatile organic compounds and toxins they were once meant to prevent, a state report says.
Germany’s average car age rises to record 8.7 years old on Europe crisis
Cars on German roads are older than they’ve ever been as consumers balk at replacing aging models with new ones amid Europe’s sovereign-debt crisis.
Cars are 8.7 years old on average, a new high and a full year older than the pre-crisis level in 2007, the VDA, Germany’s auto industry association, said.
