Xcar takes a closer look at Renovo Coupe
Renovo Coupe is a quite unique vehicle. From the outside it looks like a classic Shelby Daytona Coupe, but instead of a high-revving V8 engine, the car is powered by a mid-mounted twin sequential axial-flux motors producing over 500 horsepower and 1000 lb-ft of torque, taking the 1474kg car from 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.
That’s faster than any other rear-wheel drive electric car currently on the market.
The Renovo Coupe is not just about powerful electric motors and a retro look, but there is some serious research and development behind it, boasting also patent-pending modular lithium ion battery technology that currently offers a 100 mile range.
The Shelby American CSX9000 rolling chassis is highly modified along with an updated body, frame, suspension, and cabin.
Want one? Renovo Coupe will enter production next year with prices starting at $529,000 (£316k).
Xcar was recently at Pebble Beach 2014 for a chat with the Silicon Valley based startup to talk with ex-Intel engineer and Renovo Motors CEO Christopher Heiser about this new EV.
