Vauxhall Adam begins production in Germany

Adam’s production line needs to be flexible. The car is available with 61,000 exterior variations and 82,000 different interior permutations. And it was this flexibility, said Deputy Chairman of Opel/Vauxhall’s Management Board, Dr. Thomas Sedran, that had posed so many challenges for planning, logistics and manufacturing at Eisenach.
Car buffs might recognise the factory as being the former production plant of Wartburg cars in the former East Germany. Cars bearing the Wartburg name were built here between 1956 and 1991, although British buyers only had the chance to buy an example of the idiosyncratic two-stroke front-wheel drive Knight until the early 1970s
