The Ford Focus just surpassed the Toyota Corolla as the top selling car in the world. The success of the Focus, which is improving in the US, is at the core of Ford’s big comeback under CEO Alan Mulally.

Focus is world’s best-selling car in 2012


The Ford Focus has notched up the enviable title of world’s best-selling car for 2012. Nearly 490,000 units of the Blue Oval hatchback have been sold worldwide during the first half of this year, and, according to HIS Automotive, that makes it the single best-selling car.

The Toyota Auris and Prius come next, with 11 and 12 percent respectively, followed by the Ford C-Max and Mondeo, with 14 and 15 percent.
