2013 Ford Fusion Recalls – two in one week


Ford in America is recalling 19,106 Fusion sedans to fix low-beam headlights that could become hazy, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Ford has unveiled first details about the all-new Mondeo, that will be fitted with its award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. Yes a 1.0-litre engine in a Mondeo. A decade ago this would have been an insane idea, but not today.

New Ford Mondeo delayed


Ford has allegedly admitted that the new Mondeo will be delayed by six months, possibly until September 2013. According to Autobeat Europe, the launch, which was expected to be in March, then in June, has been delayed by unspecified quality and type approval issues.

Next Mondeo to offer inflatable seat belts


The dividing line between a car interior and a bouncy castle gets ever thinner. Ford is to offer inflatable rear seatbelts on the 2013 Ford Mondeo, which instantly become a kind of mini-airbag in the event of an accident. Ford says that the inflatable belt disperses the energy of a crash across a body area five times larger than would a conventional seatbelt.”We’ve tested the system extensively using our entire crash test dummy family and it offers extra protection over the standard rear seatbelt system,” said Joerg Doering, core engineering seatbelts engineer, Ford of Europe. “Bringing together the attributes of an airbag and a seatbelt is a significant development. This technology isn’t currently available in Europe.”
