Five Cars You’ll Be Seeing Less of in 2013


All good things must come to an end, including even the most iconic cars. Then there are the ones that never should have seen the light of day in the first place. Here are a few of the cars that, for one reason or another, are going to be either a bit scarcer after the end of 2012 or not destined for production at all.

New Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC on sale in January


Honda’s new 1.6 i-DTEC Civic will be available from January 2013. The new diesel Civic variant will be available in three trim levels: SE, ES and top-of-the-range EX. The specifications will be identical to the equivalent 2.2-litre i-DTEC cars, but with the addition of new 16-inch alloy wheels, while the EX model comes also with front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and DAB digital radio.

Ten most reliable used family cars revealed


The latest attempt by Warranty Direct to sell used car warranties has landed in our inbox. It reveals the ‘ten cars you can rely on this summer’, in doing so making the tacit suggestion that the other cars- your car, for example – might not be so reliable, and that you might benefit from taking out an extended warranty on your old banger. Warranty Direct cover starts from as little as £15 per month. So, the most reliable family car, as determined by Warranty Direct’s claims database, is the Toyota Corolla (MY 2001-2007), with around seven percent breaking down per year, on average – the lowest ratio.That’s closely followed by the Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Mazda 3, all of which have a ten percent rate. The Toyota Auris and Prius come next, with 11 and 12 percent respectively, followed by the Ford C-Max and Mondeo, with 14 and 15 percent.

Owner sues Honda over fuel economy – and loses


An American owner of a Civic hybrid has lost her case against the manufacturer after claiming compensation for the fact that her Honda Civic did not achieve its claimed fuel economy.  Heather Peters initially won $10,000 in a small claims court, but Superior court Judge Dudley Gray ruled against her at the appeal hearing, saying Honda’s ads were “not specific promises of anything”.
