Rowan Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 supercar in August 2011 on the A605 near Peterborough, when he lost control of the vehicle on a slippery patch of road. Atkinson suffered a shoulder injury while his McLaren F1, 1 of 64 built was seriously damaged.

It took McLaren mechanics four weeks to calculate the cost of repairs. The result was the biggest repair bill ever recorded in Britain. The cost of bringing the McLaren F1 back to its pre crash condition was £910,000 and was done in approximately one year.Atkinson is now back behind the wheel, comparing the experience to ‘putting a familiar sweater on.’What is really fascinating about the famous actor is how he uses this rare supercar. Earlier this month he told Classic and Sports Car magazine:‘It depresses me that they are hidden away like investment art, or gold ingots in a Swiss vault. …The McLaren is just so usable, it is a crime not to use it. No gritted teeth, you just get in and drive.’Atkinson first crashed his F1 back in 1999 when he front-ended a Rover Metro.
