Nissan Qashqai Steering wheel fault recall
Nissan is recalling thousands of British-built Qashqai models because a steering wheel came off in a driver’s hands.
The problem is with the ‘boss’ joint which connects the wheel to the column. Nissan dealers across the UK are gearing up to fix the issue which occurred after a supplier changed a part.A Nissan spokesman said only a small batch of cars are affected – around one per cent – of models built between February 27 and May 16 this year. The recall affects Qashqai, Qashqai +2 and the NV200 van.
He added: “Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Recall Campaign on approximately 7,376 Qashqai, Qashqai+2 and NV200 models in the UK, following concerns about the strength of the steering wheel.”The steering wheel will be checked to see if it is one of a batch which is affected. If necessary the wheel will be replaced. The operation will take less than 20 minutes. We will be contacting affected customers, but anyone who is concerned about their vehicle should contact their dealer.”
