Geneva Motor Show 2013: Suzuki to premiere new crossover

This teaser image depicts Suzuki’s successor to the SX4 crossover, which is to premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The new model is based on the Suzuki S-Cross concept, which was displayed at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. It remains to be seen if Suzuki will keep the SX4 name.

While the pictures don’t give away too much, they show fairly minor, practical tweaks from the concept, which has a much more SUV-like appearance than the outgoing SX4. The ride height has been increased and the cabin enlarged, offering “class-leading luggage space,” according to Suzuki – around 400 litres. The production model will be offered with either front- or all-wheel drive and there is a tie-up with Fiat, although Fiat will no longer call it’s version the Sedici, instead opting to cash-in on the strong 500 brand with a new 500X model.Details of engines and trim will be announced at the Geneva show, but you can expect to see the 2.0 DDiS diesel from the current SX4 and possibly a 1.4-litre TwinAir petrol thanks to the partnership with Fiat.
