Chrysler recalls nearly 630,000 Jeeps to fix transmissions, airbags, seat belts

Chrysler Group said it will recall more than 220,000 units of the Jeep Wrangler to fix a transmission flaw and 409,000 units of the Jeep Compass and Patriot worldwide to fix a software glitch that could stop airbags and seat belts from working in a crash.

The recalls add to a growing list of safety problems at Chrysler, which stunned the auto industry this week by taking the rare step of rebuffing a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The average amount of negative equity in an existing auto loan is about $3,600, Power Information Network says.

The percent of buyers with negative equity has been creeping higher since 2011. But that’s not entirely bad news for retailers because it indicates customers with lower credit scores are getting financed, Power Information Network says.

Confused.com adds Drive Like a Girl Telematics to its panel of insurers

Insurance price comparison site Confused.com has added Telematics insurers ‘Drive Like a Girl’ to its panel of insurers offering the chance of more reasonably priced cover to younger drivers.

Drive like a girl, a telematics insurance company aimed at 17-25 year old female drivers, launched in January and promises to give money back to anyone after three months – female or male who can show they have driven safely.

Volkswagen Reliability Shock in Australia

Volkswagen’s reputation for reliability had come under fire in Australia.
