U.S. diesel registrations increase by 24 percent, hybrids up 33 percent in 2012

Clean diesel car registrations increased by 24.3 percent in the U.S. from 2010 through 2012, while registrations as a whole only increased 2.8 percent, according to new data compiled for the Diesel Technology Forum.

Couple found guilty of stealing GM secrets

A Michigan couple found guilty of stealing General Motors trade secrets related to hybrid-car technology to help develop similar vehicles in China will be sentenced today in a U.S. District Court in Detroit.

Former GM engineer Shanshan Du and her husband, Yu Qin, stole GM hybrid technology to build a hybrid electric vehicle in China with Chery Automobile Co., a Chinese auto manufacturer and GM competitor.

Honda to update the vehicle stability assist system software, free of charge

Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (HMC) announced that it will voluntarily recall 43,782 model year 2012-2013 Fit Sport vehicles in the U.S. to update the vehicle stability assist system software, free of charge.

The company said that the vehicle stability assist system on certain 2012-2013 model year Honda Fit Sport vehicles equipped with certain tires may allow yaw rates that exceed certain U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards requirements.
