Order books for the Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer are now open, with prices starting at £25,349. The all-wheel drive Insignia is offered with two trim levels – Country Tourer and Country Tourer Nav – along with the choice of two 2.0-litre diesel engines.

Renault-Nissan create procurement group with AvtoVAZ

Renault and partner Nissan Motor created a parts-procurement venture with AvtoVAZ, Russia’s biggest carmaker, as the manufacturers seek to limit costs as they expand in the country in a three-way tie-up.

The venture is modeled on the 12-year-old Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization, which holds a 50 percent stake in the new Russian entity, with AvtoVAZ owning the other half, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

Volkswagen in no hurry to recognize U.S. union

Volkswagen will not grant immediate union recognition to its U.S. workers and may take months to reach agreement on a German-style works council for its Tennessee plant, company officials said today.

Talks with the UAW are likely to continue into next year, said Sebastian Patta, human resources chief at the Chattanooga factory.

Intense difficulties in local markets are forcing European parts suppliers to rethink their business strategies, to look further afield for growth opportunities and to redefine their business models, according to the European suppliers association CLEPA.

“Growth in the next 10 years will come outside of Europe, with Asia accounting for 80 percent of that. It is therefore paramount that automotive suppliers learn to manage and market their innovations in international markets,” CLEPA CEO Jean-Marc Gales said.
