EcoMotors acquires engine developer Katech Manufacturing

EcoMotors (EM), the developer of opposed-piston opposed-cylinder (opoc) engine technology, purchased Katech, Inc., a manufacturing company known for developing advanced engines and powertrains.

The purchase comes on the heels of news of EM’s $200+ million joint venture with First Auto Works Jingye Engine Company to develop, manufacture, sell and service the opoc engine technology in China.

Pedestrian hit by police car dies

A man died after being hit by a police car responding to a call in a seaside town on the south coast.

The accident happened on the A259 in Hastings, East Sussex, yesterday evening while officers were investigating a report about a car being driven by a banned motorist. Their vehicle hit a man believed to be in his 40s and from the area.

PSA new chairman search narrows

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen has narrowed the search for a new supervisory board chairman to ex-Airbus Group CEO Louis Gallois and former Nexans CEO Gerard Hauser, a person familiar with the matter said.

The post is currently held by Thierry Peugeot. The selection of a new chairman is part of a broader governance reorganization at PSA that will result in the Peugeot family’s board seats being reduced to two from four.

Turkish auto output down 11% in February

Turkey’s vehicle production fell 11 percent year-on-year in February to 83,140 vehicles, the Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD) said today.

In the first two months of the year, output was also down 11 percent to 158,182 vehicles, the association said.
