Ariel Atom 3.5R unveiled with 350bhp, priced at £80,000
Ariel Atom just got even more interesting with the launch of a new Atom 3.5R special edition.
The Atom 3.5R is powered by an uprated 350bhp 2.0-litre turbo sourced from Honda Civic Type-R, that in the more standard Ariel Atom produces 310bhp. Additional 40bhp were possible thanks to increased boost from 7.5 to 11 psi and a new custom sidepod-mounted intercooler.
Other updates include adjustable limited-slip differential, Öhlins springs, TTX adjustable dampers and four-piston calipers fitted onto vented discs.
350bhp is not a whole lot today, but in a car that weighs just 550kg, it is plenty with 0-60mph taking just 2.5 seconds and 0-100mph in 6.0 seconds. That’s supercar territory already.
This ultimate open top track toy is priced at £80,000. Not cheap, but when you compare it to other supercars that go from 0-60mph in less than 3.0 seconds it sounds like a real bargain.
