Forgotten Lec CRP1 car to climb the hill at Goodwood

The Lec CRP1, a little-known Formula 1 car which last appear on track on 1979, is set to climb the hill at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It’s biggest claim to fame was at the 1977 Belgian Grand Prix, which it led at the hands of David Purley.
You may recognise the Lec name from refrigerators – the car was produced by the same company and parts were even shaped using machines that would otherwise be used to shapefridge doors. The owner of Lec provided financial backing for the car and it debuted in 1977.
The car will be driven at Goodwood by Joe Twyman. He said: “The car has been through a complete restoration process since being bought from the Purley family and taken out of the Donington collection around two years ago. I can’t wait to have a go on the hill in it.”
