Jaguar XE confirmed as new name for an all-new mid-sized sports saloon
We have seen the Jaguar’s all-new mid-sized sports saloon testing for a while now here in Britain.
Until now almost everyone referred to this new model as XS.
Jaguar has now announced the name for this all-new mid-sized premium sports saloon will be XE.
Jaguar says, the XE will be the first aluminium monocoque product in the segment and is set to be the most advanced, efficient and refined sports saloon in its class.
This new British built mid-sized saloon will go against the likes of BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and Lexus IS.
The new advanced aluminium architecture was showcased for the first time in the C-X17 concept car at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2013.
The XE will be powered by a new Ingenium family of high-output, fuel-efficient four-cylinder two-litre petrol and diesel engines. These new engines will enable Jaguar to offer vehicles with class-leading performance, including top speeds of over 186mph, and emissions lower than 100g of CO2 per km. Not bad!
The XE is expected to debut in late 2014 with a global roll-out scheduled from mid-2015.
