The camouflaged McLaren 12C Spider are actually technology mules of a new sports car called P13, not a facelift for the 12C Spider as was reported few days ago.

A McLaren spokesperson told Autocar that these MP4-12C prototypes are just technology test mules for the upcoming P13, which is scheduled to arrive in 2015.

Details are limited, but Ron Dennis has already confirmed the P13 would use a carbon fibre MonoCell chassis and a seven-speed dual-clutch Graziano transmission. The P13 will reportedly use a 3.8-litre V8 that produces around 450bhp, good for a 0-62 mph spring in less than four seconds and a top speed around 200mph.

The P13 is expected to cost around €120,000.
