2015 Polaris Slingshot three-wheeler unveiled
Three-wheelers are fun! The latest company to join the three-wheeler party is Polaris with its Slingshot, featuring an aggressive front that looks very similar to the extreme KTM X-Bow.
Moving to the rear the models are actually quite different as the Slingshot has a single centre-mounted wheel.
Power comes from a 173bhp 2.4-litre EcoTec engine linked to a five speed manual gearbox and carbon-reinforced drive belt, sending power to the single rear wheel. Performance specs are not known, but as the Slingshot weighs just 790kg, the 173bhp power figure should be enough to offer a very fun and fast ride.
At the front are 18-inch forged aluminium wheels exposing part of the suspension and projector-beam headlights. At the rear are LED taillights, while the driver and passenger are kept safe with three-point seat belts and roll hoops.
Other highlights include adjustable waterproof seats, locking glove box, tilt steering wheel, 4.3-inch LCD with Bluetooth, six-speaker sound system, USB support, backup camera, two lockable storage bins that are roomy enough to hold the helmets and two standard backpacks.
It is not known yet will Polaris bring the Slingshot to UK, but in U.S. the base model starts at £11,800 ($19,999) and because it has three wheels is classed as a motorcycle not a motorcar.
