2014 Hyundai ix35 Update Revealed, Australian Timing To Be Confirmed
Hyundai has given its popular ix35 small SUV a light going-over this year, adding new features and a revised engine line-up.
Revealed ahead of this week’s Geneva Motor Show, the 2013/14 ix35 remains largely unchanged on the outside, gaining new LED daytime running lights and new Bi-Xenon headlamps.
A new five-spoke wheel design can also be seen here, but the updated ix35’s rear-end and revised interior is still to be revealed.
Hyundai promises a new TFT Supervision instrument cluster display in the cockpit, along with “a host of material upgrades to improve quality and some detail enhancements to trim”.
Depending on the market and specification, engine options for the updated ix35 include Hyundai’s Nu 2.0 litre GDI petrol engine, replacing the current Theta II 2.0 litre mill.
The R-Series diesel engine also gains an update, adding a new low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system.
Hyundai’s Flex Steer system also comes to the ix35 in 2013, offering the same Normal, Comfort and Sport modes featured with the new Santa Fe SUV.
Watch for more details to come with the ix35’s official Geneva unveiling.
Australia
Speaking with TMR today, Hyundai Australia’s Guido Schenken could not reveal local plans for the updated ix35, saying only that Australian timing and specifications are yet to be confirmed.
