GM’s Bob Stewart to address counterfeit tools Nov. 6
The fall 2013 general meeting of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) is Wednesday, Nov. 6, and one of the important topics on the afternoon agenda is counterfeit tools.
Bob Stewart, manager of aftermarket service support for General Motors, was recently charged with coordinating the GM response to this threat and has agreed to share his knowledge with the independent aftermarket in a session titled “Who’s Cheating Whom.”
Auto Technology Shattering Fuel economy myths
Last August, the Obama administration announced it would increase fuel-economy standards to 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by 2025. But six long-held fuel-economy myths prevent better efficiency with current automotive technology.
Only small cars are economical: Not so. Newer, standard-size vehicles have advanced technologies such as hybrid drive trains, diesel engines, turbochargers and low-rolling resistance tires, allowing them to compete on the fuel-efficiency charts.
Land Rover offers £9000 bursary to female engineering students
Land Rover is hoping to encourage more young women to enter a career in engineering, with the launch of its Range Rover Evoque WISE Scholarship.
The program – which will include a £9000 bursary – and is open to any woman who has arranged an engineering based apprenticeship or has a confirmed place on a higher education engineering course.
