GM expands SUV recall to 480,000 vehicles for fire risk
General Motors Co. is recalling about 231,000 additional SUVs that might be in danger of an electrical short that could cause a fire.
The move is an expansion of a recall from last August to check 249,000 SUVs for a short in a circuit board in the driver’s door that could lead to a fire.
Toyota Judge Delays Final Approval of $1.1 Billion Agreement
Final approval of Toyota’s $1.1 billion settlement of claims that recalls for unintended acceleration hurt the value of U.S. customers’ vehicles will be delayed, a judge said.
The settlement would resolve the economic-loss portion of the Toyota sudden-acceleration litigation. Class, or group, actions were filed on behalf of Toyota owners who contended the company drove down the value of their vehicles by failing to disclose or fix defects.
