Four in five motorists say they are worried about driving and suffer “accident anxiety” according to a new survey.

Fleet News reported the results of the survet by Allianz Insurance, which found stress is mostly caused by tailgating (45%), being on the receiving end of road rage (41%) and uninsured drivers (29%). In fact, anxiety is such an issue that 17% of drivers have opted out of making a journey altogether.

Nissan  has developed what it is calling a “smart” rearview mirror—an LCD monitor that not only provides clear rearward visibility under various conditions, but also allows the driver the ability to switch between the LCD monitor and the traditional rearview mirror, depending on the preference. Nissan will introduce the Smart rearview mirror at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

EU tightens CO2 cap for cars, fixing 2021 limit in deal with Germany

The European Union has tightened a cap on carbon dioxide emissions from cars, ending a skirmish with Germany through a compromise that eases the potential costs for automakers.The European Parliament voted today in Strasbourg, France, to cut average car-CO2 emissions to 95 grams a kilometer in 2021 through varying targets for individual manufacturers, according to a statement. Current EU rules cap auto discharges at 130 grams a kilometer on average as of 2015 and set a non-binding goal of 95 grams for 2020.
