Vauxhall announces prices for Mokka baby SUV
Vauxhall’s new rival for the Nissan Juke is available for ordering today, with first deliveries taking place in November. The Mokka is Vauxhall’s competitor in the growing segment for supermini/4×4 crossovers. The success of the Nissan Juke is leading all manufacturers to take a close look at this segment, but Vauxhall has done a good job of getting in ahead of most rivals (Ford is expected to launch a car like this soon).Prices run from £16,995 for the 1.6 to £23,490 for the 1.7 diesel 4×4. That is anything but skinny (sorry, no more cofee jokes, we promise), and is about £2,000 more than the slightly smaller Juke. The Mokka is actually between the Juke and larger Nissan Qashqai in size, being about the same length as the Skoda Yeti.
There are three trim levels. S models get electric, heated mirrors, air conditioning, DAB radio, cruise control and hill start assist. Exclusiv models add climate control, USB and Bluetooth, automatic headlights and wipers, alloy wheels and electric rear windows. SE models also feature heated leather seats, Bi-Xenon adaptive headlights, rear privacy glass and a heated steering wheel.
Vauxhall is promising good ride and handling thanks to a chassis specifically optimised for our dreadful roads. However, the biggest driving issue is likely to be the so-so CO2 figures. The lowest figure is 124 g/km of CO2 for the 1.7 diesel, which is behind the Skoda Yeti, which starts at a lower-tax 119g/km of CO2. The 1.6 petrol is 153 g/km of CO2 which is not great for a brand new, small-ish car.
