Ford announces Transit Custom Econetic

Ford has announced a new variant of the Transit that can deliver emissions as low as 162g/km and economy from 46.3mpg, making it the most efficient van in its class. The economy comes from a host of fuel saving technologies designed to help the driver save diesel.

Ford axes UK vehicle production

Ford is to shut its Southampton plant, which builds the Transit van, marking the end of Ford vehicle production in the UK. The plant has built more than six million Transit models since production started in 1972. From next year all Transit vans will be built at Ford’s factory in Turkey.

Ford to close Belgian Genk plant


Ford has announced that it is to close its factory in Genk, Belgium, in late 2014. The plant currently builds Mondeo, Galaxy and S-MAX models, production of which is expected to move to Valencia, Spain during 2014.
