new Fiat 500 Abarth ad, seeing is believing

Remember Fiat’s 2011 Super Bowl commercial, Seduction, in which a beautiful woman turned out to be a Fiat 500 Abarth? This one is even better!
Well, you won’t be fooled this time. In a print ad for the 500 Abarth in ESPN The Magazine‘s upcoming Body Issue, the “car” is actually made up of beautiful women.
The ad, which boasts that the vehicle is “made of pure muscle,” was shot with the help of photographer RJ Muna and body artist Craig Tracy. The idea for the ad came from the Richards Group, of Dallas, which also produced the infamous Super Bowl ad.
With today’s advancements in digital photography, the unsuspecting reader would likely assume the piece was Photoshopped.
But in a video posted Monday on Fiat USA’s YouTube channel, the company shows that contortionists, circus performers and artists did in fact come together to make the ad.
“I don’t think we ever considered doing it in Photoshop,” Muna said in the video. Why not get all the dancers together? Why not get the best body painter in the country?”
Though the ad is unusual, it’s not the first time something like this has been done. The Government of South Australia created a similar ad last year to urge residents to obey speed limits.
