Jaguar will drive the forthcoming F-Type up the hillclimb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As part of the “dance of the seven veils” strategy, whereby we all get teased by a steady stream of near-reveals, a development prototype example of Jaguar’s new sports car, will make its public debut at the Festival of Speed.

Utilising Jaguar’s industry-leading knowledge of all-aluminium construction, the F-Type will launch as a two-seater convertible “with the focus on delivering driver reward” – Porsche be warned.The F-Type will be driven up the famous Goodwood Hill by Jaguar’s Head of Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross. He is “Mr. Jaguar” when it comes to ride and handling and is no mean driver either. Anyone who has seen him at Goodwood before will know how he can make a car dance – “All crossed up” is the usual description of a car under his control.

Powered by a supercharged V6 or V8 engine, the convertible F-Type is currently undergoing development prior to going on sale mid-2013. Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented; ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed is focused around the dynamic hill runs where the public can see, hear and smell the cars – this is why we have chosen it as the place to showcase an F-Type prototype.

However, the car is likely to be closely guarded – there is not likely to be much of an opportunity to see inside the car.
