Lamborghini’s Egoista concept highlights edgy design

Volkswagen design chief Walter de’ Silva said the Egoista “represents the extremes of hedonism.”
Lamborghini’s Egoista concept, unveiled earlier this month at the company’s 50th anniversary celebration in Bologna, Italy, isn’t planned for production, but it does have a purpose: countering critics who think the automaker has lost some of its design edginess.
The one-seat supercar, with its jet-fighter looks, was designed by Walter de’ Silva, Volkswagen Group’s global design chief, who said it “represents the extremes of hedonism. It is a car without compromise.”
The Egoista, which means selfish in Italian, probably could be produced if Lamborghini chose to do so. It is fitted with the Lamborghini Gallardo’s 5.2-liter V-10 engine and is based on the Gallardo’s platform.
