The insurance groupings that apply to Volvo models fitted with City Safety Autonomous Emergency Braking have dropped, which means potential insurance savings for buyers.

Depending on the model, Volvo is claiming customers can expect to save up to £161.81. The emergency braking technology automatically applies to brakes if sensors detect an imminent collision, either reducing the force of the impact or preventing it.

According to Volvo’s numbers, which are provided by Volvo Car Insurance, buyers of a V70 SE Lux D5, S60 R-Design and XC70 SE Nav D5 can expect to save around £155 off their annual insurance bill, while buyers of the XC60 R-Design Lux Nav D5 can expect to save £162.

That’s thanks to insurance groups dropping by as many as four groups on the 1-50 scale.
