Volkswagen launches special edition Amarok

Volkswagen has launched a new special edition of the Amarok. Called, imaginatively, the Amarok edition. It’s based on the Trendline model but adds extra equipment worth £3400. Just 300 will be available in the UK.

To make it stand out the new model comes with 18-inch Durban alloy wheels, black bars across the load bed, privacy glass, black and red side stripes and 18-inch Durban alloys. On top of that there are front and rear parking sensors and a protective coating for the load area. Inside it has Bluetooth, sat nav and a five-inch colour touchscreen.Just one engine is available – the impressive 2.0 BiTDI with 180PS and 420Nm of torque if you choose the optional automatic. The standard six-speed manual still has 400Nm giving it a 0-62mph time of 11.0 seconds while average claimed economy for both is 35.3mpg.

The manual gets Volkswagen’s selectable 4MOTION four-wheel drive system but the eight-speed automatic gets permanent 4MOTION. It also comes with lower rolling resistance tyres, start/stop and regenerative parking.

Two colours are available, reflex silver with black door mirrors or deep black with silver mirrors. Prices start at £22,495 plus VAT for the manual and £22,225 for the automatic. It goes on sale in July.
