Alpine has unveiled the EZi-DAB, which despite sounding like something you’d find in a first aid kit, is a clever little device that changes any car stereo into a DAB digital radio.

It’s neat, handy and (quite) cheap.We see press releases for a dozen accessories a day, but this is the best idea we have come across in a long time.
It is a small, stylish way of turning your old radio into a DAB unit and additionally can control iPod, iPhone, iPad and USB flash drives or other phones. It uses an antenna discreetly attached to the windscreen, so that no drilling is required and offers a full set of what the marketing wallahs love to call “surprise and delight” features – basically clever time-shift stuff:Forecourt Pause: Hit the pause button before removing your car keys, so that the broadcast is paused for a maximum of 15 minutes.Pause and Rewind Live Radio: Pause live radio and continue to listen later, or rewind at 15 second increments.

Picnic Mode: Listen to digital radio with the ignition off and the car keys removed.

It costs £249.99, which is no giveaway, but it is a cost-effective way of bringing non-DAB radios (that would be over 90% of the total) into the modern age.
