UK automotive suppliers need to capitalise on £3bn opportunity
Government and industry have launched a survey for automotive supply chain companies that will assess the state of the UK automotive supply chain and shape its future.
The joint Automotive Council and SMMT survey will gauge the capability of domestic suppliers to take advantage of the £3 billion opportunity identified for the automotive supply chain to grow in support of manufacturing.
Vehicle manufacturing in the UK is currently growing rapidly, with SMMT’s latest manufacturing data points towards 2013 being the biggest year since 2007. Independent analysis even suggests that UK car production could be on course for all-time record levels before the end of the decade.
One of the core aims of the joint government-industry Automotive Sector Strategy, launched in July, is to grow the domestic supply chain to make it part of the success story.
Supply chain companies are urged to complete the survey here to help in the assessment and development of this important part of UK automotive.
