The Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) had a record attendance at its 2013 Fall Meeting, held in Pittsburgh last week, and increased participation in its National Technician Skills Competition (TMCSuperTech) that is held in conjunction with the annual meeting.

Additionally, overall membership in TMC, North America’s premier technical society for truck equipment technology and maintenance professionals, is up as well.

This was among the news reported in the state-of-the association reports delivered by TMC officials during the fall meeting.

The increases are being attributed to a number of factors, including a recovering economy, a healthier trucking industry and the TMC’s new outreach campaign.

Officials said TMC – whose mission is to improve transport equipment, its maintenance and maintenance management – now has nearly 2,700 members. Membership includes fleet executives and managers, truck and components suppliers; service providers from dealers and independent shops, technicians, educators and owner-operators.

In this year’s National Technician Skills Competition, the ninth annual event, 130 technicians qualified to participate. Some 247 people volunteered to serves as judges for the event.
