U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday reprimanded General MotorsĀ for a “culture of secrecy” and said a company investigation that found top executives did not know for years about a deadly ignition-switch defect does not absolve them of responsibility.
A U.S. congressional probe is focusing on why General Motors employees repeatedly approved ignition switches that failed to meet company standards and how those decisions may have contributed to crashes linked to at least 13 deaths.
