Le Mans: Both Toyotas out, Davidson in hospital with ‘broken back’


Toyota have pulled their sole remaining car out of the Le Mans 24 Hours after 11 hours and 134 laps, leaving the Audi team holding the top three positions. Alex Wurz was the driver who brought the TS030 HYBRID home and out of the race after a lengthy spell in the pits in the eighth hour which resulted in it stalling in the pit lane and forced the Toyota mechanics to push the car all the way back to the garage for repairs.The Austrian driver was well down the order when he rejoined but the petrol-powered hybrid car was not showing its earlier pace. The problems were the result of his team-mate, Kazuki Nakajima’s collision with the Nissan Deltawing in the sixth hour which also led to the Nissan’s retirement.

Toyota to boost UK production for Auris replacement

Hot on the heels of Honda’s good news yesterday comes news from Toyota that UK production should rise by one-third. Speaking to industry website, www.just-auto.com, Tony Walker, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, said that the company is now recovering from the economic crisis of 2008 that led to a drop of over 50% to Toyota’s UK car output.

Toyota invents mood-reading car


Toyota has created a piece of technology that can read drivers’ moods and adjust the car accordingly. The tech is a safety feature that senses the fettle a driver is in, based on facial recognition technology reading no less than 238 separate points. It then evaluates how he or she will react to a hazard and, if necessary, send out warnings.
