Japan's Diamond Electric to pay $19 million U.S. fine in parts price-fixing probe

A Japanese manufacturer of ignition coils that were sold to Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and Subaru parent Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. has agreed to plead guilty and pay a $19 million fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix prices of automotive components, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Subaru cuts XV prices by £2300

Subaru has dropped the prices of its XV crossover by £2300, following an improvement in the exchange rate between Pound Sterling and the Japanese Yen.

Subaru to recall 5,400 vehicles for possible steering failure

Subaru will recall nearly 5,400 2013 Outback and Legacy models because the steering may fail, the automaker has informed the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In a report posted on the agency’s website, Subaru said the inner and outer shafts of the steering column assembly could lose contact with one another, in which case “the driver would lose the ability to steer the vehicle.”
