NHTSA Administrator slams GM’s ‘flawed’ culture on recalls

The top U.S. auto safety regulator harshly criticized General Motors for not promptly reporting and recalling cars now linked to at least 19 deaths and said he has been meeting with top global automakers to develop a “new normal” for safety recalls.

General Motors is recalling almost 30,000 Saab 9-3 convertibles in the United States for a seat belt issue that has previously affected sedan models.
Recalls are more widespread than you think
If a car has a fundamental and possibly dangerous problem, such as the potential to catch on fire or to lose a wheel at high speed, then you’d think it would be well publicised – but that’s not always the case. Maserati is recalling certain model year 2014 Quattroporte GTS V8 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
