PSA

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen is seeking to capture 10 percent of China’s luxury vehicle sales by promoting the Citroen DS brand to people in fashion and design.

CEO Zhu Fushou says Dongfeng will not ‘eat’ PSA

Dongfeng Motor CEO Zhu Fushou sought to quell the controversy over his company’s planned purchase of a 14 percent stake in PSA/Peugeot-Citroen, saying that Dongfeng has no plans to take control of PSA.

Dongfeng’s investment is a long-term strategy that will help PSA increase sales outside Europe and allow Dongfeng to compete better with domestic rivals in China, Fushou said in an interview published in the L’Alsace newspaper.

PSA to increase Peugeot 308 production to meet high demand

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen will increase production of the Peugeot 308 hatchback after receiving 60,000 orders for the new model since its launch in October, the automaker said in a statement.

PSA will hire 600 people, including 450 on temporary contracts, to staff a night shift at a plant in Sochaux, France, to meet high demand for the model, which last week won Europe’s Car of the Year award at the Geneva auto show.

PSA new chairman search narrows

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen has narrowed the search for a new supervisory board chairman to ex-Airbus Group CEO Louis Gallois and former Nexans CEO Gerard Hauser, a person familiar with the matter said.

The post is currently held by Thierry Peugeot. The selection of a new chairman is part of a broader governance reorganization at PSA that will result in the Peugeot family’s board seats being reduced to two from four.

Tavares hustles to make humbled PSA an auto champion

Carlos Tavares

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen’s incoming CEO Carlos Tavares hustled around the Geneva auto show this week in a way that didn’t suggest he was taking one of the toughest jobs in the auto industry.

Attending his first car show since joining the French carmaker “is very pleasant,” Tavares said while rushing to Peugeot’s display area, where electronic music throbbed and the 308 hatchback — the 2014 European Car of the Year — was prominently displayed. “I’m a lucky guy.”
